The School is as Big as A Maze!

• The School is full of children who speak over each other and constantly chatter.

Algebra helps us to read the whole equation by assigning letters to the unknown!

When you’re trying to solve word questions, (for example: During the weekends Sam played 4 more games than Alex did, and together they played 12 games. How many games did Alex play?), you can turn it into algebra then use algebra to solve it. Algebra helps you to read the whole equation first, assign letters for the values and work out formulas.

Sam has 2 books less than Alex. We can write the equation like this:
S=number of books Sam has
A=number of books Alex has
The equation could either be like this- s-2=a, s=a-2 or s=2-a. The answer is s=a-2 because Sam has 2 books less than Alex.

Asking questions helps us to understand the text better!

Questioning helps you to find information and focus your attention on what’s important in the text. You can ask questions using the five w’s, ‘what if’ and ‘I wonder...’ after, before or during reading so that you’ll understand the text better.

For example:

If someone was reading a story and they didn’t understand a part of the text, they could ask a question and look it up online or ask someone older for help so they could understand it better.

The haunted house is so creepy that it makes you want to run out of it as soon as you enter!
