Easter!

What EASTER means to me:

What does Easter eggs and chocolate have to do with Easter?

The story of the Easter Bunny is thought to have

become common in the 19th Century.

Rabbits usually give birth to a big litter of babies (called kittens),

so they became a symbol of new life.

Legend has it that the Easter bunny lays, decorates and

hides eggs as they are also a symbol of new life.

Easter eggs represent the Holy Trinity:

Egg shell - God the protector

Egg White - The Holy Spirit

Egg yolk - Jesus Christ (the beginning)

What Easter means to me is remembering the death

and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He died on Good Friday to cleanse our sins.

After three days, he rose from the dead, then ascended

up to heaven to his heavenly father.

The bible says that he sits on the right hand of God.

How the Easter bunny story and

the resurrection of Jesus are connected:

Jesus Christ and the Easter eggs is a symbol of new life.

Jesus died to cleanse us from sins, which means

to forgive our sins we have made.

Then, we can live a new, non-sinful life.

The Easter eggs are also a symbol of new life,

because they represent the birth

of a newborn baby.

The chocolate Easter eggs are a

gift to little children like us,

because the church leaders did not

allow chocolate during Holy Week.

The Lost Son!

Learning Intention: We are learning to retell the story of the lost son.   Luke chapter 15: verse 11 to 32

Jesus then carried on and told this story to them, “There was once a man who had two sons. His youngest son said, “Father, give me my share of your property.” So his father divided his property between his two sons. After a few days, the younger son sold his share of the property and left his home with the money. He wasted all his money on reckless living. After that, he went to work for one of the citizens living in the country who sent him out to his farm to look after his pigs. He was starting to get hungry, and wished he could eat the bean pods, which was what the pigs ate because no one gave him something to eat. Later, the son said, “ All my father’s paid workers have more than they can eat and here I am about to starve. I will get up and go to my father and say, “I have sinned against God and against you. I am no longer fit to be called your son anymore.” So he got up and started back to his father. As he was walking, his father noticed him and felt sorry for him. So he ran to him and kissed him. “Father, I have sinned against God and against you, I am no longer fit to be called your son.” But then his father said to his servants, “Go and bring the best robe and put it on my son. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Go and find the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast for my son's home-coming. For he was dead and now he is alive! For he was lost and now he is found!” So they began the feast. Meanwhile, the oldest son was out in the paddock. He came back and heard music and dancing. He asked one of the servants, “What is going on?” The servant replied, “Your brother has come home and your father has killed the fattest calf, because he got him back safe and sound.” The older brother was very angry. His father came out and begged him to come in the house. But he said to his father, “Look, all these years I have worked for you like a slave, and I have never disobeyed you. What have you given me? Not even a goat for me to have a feast with my friends! But this son of yours  wasted all your property on prostitutes, and when he comes back home, you kill the fattest calf for him?!”. “My son” his father said, “you are always here with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be happy, because your brother was dead, and now he is alive, he was lost and now he is found.”

The Trinity is how Christians describe the God they believe in.

The Trinity is three persons in one-

God the Father

God the son

God the Holy Spirit

Who all live in a loving relationship together.

The Trinity is the model of living as a loving

community that Christians are called to live in.

Ash Wednesday and Lent!

Lent

Lent is a time of 40 days which is a time for  prayer and fasting.

Fasting can be not only be eating less but giving up valuable things you treasure. Lent is one of the special events of the Liturgical Year. The 40 days represent Jesus praying in the desert.

The colour purple represents Lent.

Ash Wednesday

Ash wednesday is the beginning of Lent. The ashes come from the leaves of the palm  tree which were used to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem. During Ash Wednesday, the priest puts his thumb in the ashes and marks a cross with the ashes on our foreheads. During Ash Wednesday, Father pours oil in the ashes, then the holy water and then blesses it with the scents of smoke.

The Grapes Reminds Us Of Jesus' First Miracle Because He Turned Water Into Wine!

The rosary reminds me of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
The L square reminds me of Joseph, the foster father of Jesus.
The Earth reminds me of God, Jesus’ heavenly father.
The cross reminds me of when Jesus died to cleanse our sins.
The Dove reminds me of when John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin baptised him in the Jordan river.
The Rainbow reminds of when God promised Noah to never send a flood again.
The grapes ( symbolising wine) reminds me of when Jesus performed his first miracle at a wedding in Cana by turning water into wine.
The crown reminds me of David, who killed Goliath the Giant and the King of Israel.
The sheep reminds me of Jesus being our shepherd.
The 12 stars reminds me of Abraham, the father of a great nation.

Learning Intention: We are learning to recognise that the Jesse Tree tells the story of the people who prepared for the coming of the Messiah.

The Red Cross Feeds and Give Money to The People in Spain!

1. Red Cross built six homes for Haiti with nearly half a billion dollars from donations.
2. Red Cross has been collecting money and medical supplies for New Zealand troops overseas.
3. Red Cross gave food to the poor families in the United Kingdom.
4. The Red Cross society provides free treatment for the poor in India.
5. The Red cross provides shelter, food and mental health services to help those in need.

6. The Red cross feeds and gives money to the people in Spain.
